New Fall & Winter After School Programs

The Manotick Arts Camp will be offering a variety of classes this fall both online and in person. From choir to film and improv, the Manotick Arts Camp wants to provide something for everyone.

Weekly Drama courses for youth

Ages 11 - 15

12 & 8 week sessions

Youth Acting Class

*Note that that classes will be a combination of in person and online activities . Students will be given the choice whether to attend the class in person or through zoom.

Perform a two person short theatre scene to be shared live!

Learn to act from classically trained theatre artist, Will Jenkins, to grow and improve communication skills, public speaking, text analysis and a love for the arts. Work with an assigned text and a chosen partner over the 12 weeks to mount a live show for friends and family to watch. Classes will cover text analysis, creating character walks, acting for the camera, controlling breath and voice. Grow as an actor and as a presenter in this after school program.

COST : One 12-week session is $495 + HST

Youth Improv Classes

Play improv games and preform a show to be shared live!

Come study with Will Jenkins, a Second City trained improvisor. Learn how to expand your creative mind as an actor. Play fun & challenging games designed to sharpen your wits. Make fun and creative choices to improve your communication skills, ability to work with text to extend your screen time and get a better part when auditioning. Work towards putting on a live show for friends and family to come together and celebrate your work. Have a blast challenging your self to think outside of the box in this 12 week after school program.

On Camera Acting Classes

Lights, Camera, Action!

Learn on camera skills and train to get the audition!

Train with local acting veteran Sonja Milsom to work on any film set. Develop your on camera skills and learn how to extend your screen time. Figure out how to work as a background actor, gaining insights for what the directors are looking for. Workshop audition monologues to get your foot in the door and ace your callbacks. Also look at how to create and edit your own demo reel, a tool for any actor in the modern age.

Youth On Camera Acting Classes (12 Week)

Youth classes (12-15 years) start Tuesday January 12th and run weekly till April 6th from 5-6pm

COST : One 12 week session is $495 + HST

Adult On Camera Acting Classes (12 Week)

16+ and Adult classes start Thursday January 14th and run weekly till April 8th from 5-6pm

COST : One 12 week session is $495 + HST

COVID protocols

Parents will sign a waiver prior to the start of the class
Each students’ temperature will be checked with a no touch thermometer prior to the beginning of the class and prior to their parents leaving. If their temperature is elevated they will be sent home with the parent.
Students will use hand sanitizer prior to the class
We will accept a Max. of 8 kids
They will bring the materials they need to class. Water, notebook and pencil
They are required to wear a mask or face shield
The room will be divided into 8 spaces. Each student will be designated a space.
After each bathroom use, door handles, toilet handles, taps & light switches will be disinfected.
Students will use Hand sanitizer after the class.
The floor and any chair students’ use will be disinfected prior to the next group coming in.
High traffic areas will be disinfected before the next group comes in..ie: light switches and doorknobs

Virtual Choir Classes

*The program will offer a combination of pre-recorded lesson videos, digital practice materials and live Zoom rehearsals.

Learn how to sing in a choir from home and create a beautiful show together!

Taught by JUNO award winning choral singer, Heather Lynn Smith, MMus, BMus. Learn to use your voice safely in any style from the comfort of your home. Expand your musical skills across various styles and genres with others across Ottawa. Join in song with new friends to collaborate and create a virtual choir recording to be shared online! The classes will take place over Zoom with plenty of recorded lessions to help you work at your pace. Have fun learning and singing together in this 12-week program.

Virtual Choir Classes (12 Week)

Classes will start Wednesday January 13th weekly till April 7th. Wednesday Live rehearsal will run 4:00pm till 4:45pm and the weekly 30-40min pre-recorded lesson video will be released after rehearsal.
